- Surrogate motherhood with own oocytes – recommended for women who have experienced failures in previous IVF cycles, despite the use of their own oocytes.
- Surrogate motherhood using donor gametes – intended for couples struggling with infertility, both on the female and male side. In this method, it is essential that the embryo is genetically related to at least one of the parents.
- Surrogate motherhood with frozen embryo transfer (FET) – suitable for couples who have previously frozen embryos, but cannot use them on their own, such as for health reasons such as oncological diseases.
How does the surrogacy process work using the couple’s own ova?
The procedure consists of several stages. Before undergoing in vitro fertilization, both the mother-to-be and the surrogate mother undergo a thorough medical examination. Doctors select individual hormone therapy for the patient to stimulate the ovaries to produce more oocytes. The collected oocytes are then fertilized with sperm from a partner or donor in the clinic’s laboratory. Once the embryo is obtained, it is transferred to the uterus of the surrogate mother.
About 10-14 days after the procedure, an hCG test is recommended to confirm the pregnancy. Throughout the program, the parents-to-be have the opportunity to monitor the health of the surrogate mother through regular examinations and consultations. The clinic also provides a dedicated coordinator who accompanies patients at every stage. In addition, parents-to-be can participate in prenatal checkups and be present during childbirth in one of Lviv’s hospitals.
