Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

If you have extra embryos remaining from a previous IVF cycle, you have the option to utilize them for a Frozen Embryo Transfer

At Parens International, patients with surplus embryos have the option to use them for subsequent attempts through the Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) process. Alternatively, they can choose to participate in our Embryo Donation Program, providing a meaningful avenue for those looking to contribute to the fertility journey of others.

Embryo transfer has become a popular stage in IVF programs for over 30 years. The biological material, including surplus embryos, is cryopreserved efficiently, marking a significant advancement from the slower freezing methods used in the past. Whether fresh or frozen, the choice holds no substantial difference in associated risks, with success rates showing only insignificant variations.

Children born from embryos transferred through FET are as healthy as those born through other methods. Parents-to-be opting for FET services can rest assured that our experts are dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes. At Parens International, we prioritize the well-being and success of each parenthood odyssey, offering patients the reassurance that comes with our years of expertise and commitment to excellence.

What does a frozen embryo
transfer entail?

The process of frozen embryo transfer (FET) implies warming vitrified embryos created from either patient or donor biological material and then transferring them to the uterine cavity. There are various reasons for opting for a frozen embryo transfer, such as an unsuccessful cycle or the desire to conceive again after a successful one. Many individuals choose to store embryos for future use, recognizing that fertility may decrease over time, and frozen embryos offer the possibility of becoming parents later on.

The storage term for frozen embryos is typically set at three years. There is no evidence suggesting that the quality of the embryos deteriorates over time, but it is recommended to utilize them as soon as possible for optimal chances of success in subsequent transfer attempts.

FET serves as a valuable option for those plotting their fertility course, offering flexibility and opportunities for family-building beyond the immediate present.

As you step into the profound experience of family-building through embryo transfer, this comprehensive guide unfolds the intricacies of the process, ensuring a personalized and seamless journey towards the joy of parenthood.

    1. Transportation of embryos to the clinic: Ensuring a safe arrival

Before embarking on the embryo transfer process, you’ll need to arrange for the safe transportation of your embryos to the clinic. This involves providing a comprehensive report on your embryos and the results of any relevant medical examinations. Rest assured, we stand ready to assist you in this crucial step, ensuring a smooth and secure journey for your precious biological material.

    2. Preparation of the uterine lining: Tailoring the process to you

Once your embryos are safely in place, the focus shifts to preparing the uterine lining. A personalized protocol is designed based on individual characteristics, requiring necessary check-ups and tests to ensure optimal conditions for the upcoming transfer.

    3. Embryo warming and transfer: Precision and personalization

On the designated day, the warmed embryo is expertly transferred to the uterus. The decision on how many embryos to transfer is carefully made through consultations with the doctor, taking into account the unique characteristics of both the prospective mother and father.

    4. Post-transfer rest: A moment of tranquility

Following the transfer, it’s advised to rest for approximately 30 minutes at the clinic. Afterward, you can return home, and a peaceful environment is recommended to enhance the chances of a successful implantation.

    5. Pregnancy test and beyond: Anticipating the joy of parenthood

About 14 days after the embryo transfer, a pregnancy test, typically an hCG test, is conducted to determine the outcome. Parens International in Lviv has witnessed numerous couples from Ukraine and abroad, including Germany and Italy, experience the joy of parenting a happy and healthy child. If you’re considering this journey, don’t hesitate to contact us — we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
